West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) has named Van Snider, M.D., primary care physician, as the recipient of the Physician of Excellence Award for the third quarter of 2025. This recognition is presented to a physician who consistently demonstrates exceptional clinical expertise, compassion and dedication to patients.
“Dr. Snider’s commitment to delivering patient-centered care and expanding access to healthcare in our community has made a lasting mark on our patients and our hospital,” said Janie Frugé, CEO of WCCH. “His leadership and compassion are evident in the way he serves patients every day, making him an outstanding choice for this quarter’s Physician of Excellence.”
Dr. Snider said it is an honor to care for the community in such a meaningful way. “At the Community Health Center, we see patients from all walks of life, and it is deeply rewarding to know that no matter their circumstances, they have a place to turn for quality care. I am humbled to be recognized with this award,” he said.
Dr. Snider earned his medical degree from the Tulane University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at the Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation. He is a board certified physician and a fellow of the American College of Specialists in Geriatrics.
Dr. Snider is a member of the American College of Physicians, Louisiana State Medical Society, Calcasieu Parish Medical Society, Louisiana State Bureau of EMS, the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, and the American Association of Medical Review Officers.
Dr. Snider joined the WCCH Medical Staff in 2023 and currently serves as a primary care physician at the Community Health Center of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital. He provides primary care services including preventive care, annual wellness exams and routine check-ups.
