West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) has earned reaccreditation from The Joint Commission for the hospital, ambulatory care, home health and laboratory services programs, reaffirming its commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care across Southwest Louisiana.
The Joint Commission is an independent, evidence-based organization that sets the benchmark for excellence in health care accreditation nationwide. Reaccreditation recognizes WCCH’s continued compliance with rigorous performance standards focused on patient safety, quality improvement and clinical excellence.
WCCH underwent a comprehensive, unannounced onsite survey during which a team of Joint Commission surveyors evaluated compliance across key areas, including quality control, infection prevention, patient safety, specimen collection and handling, care coordination, leadership and performance improvement. Surveyors conducted on-site observations, document reviews and staff interviews to assess operational effectiveness and identify opportunities for continued growth.
“Earning reaccreditation across our hospital, ambulatory care, home health and laboratory services reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses, clinicians and support staff,” said Janie Frugé, CEO of WCCH. “This achievement reinforces our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and patient-centered care for the communities we serve.”
The Joint Commission’s accreditation process is data-driven and designed to promote continuous improvement. Through ongoing collaboration and evaluation, accredited organizations demonstrate adherence to national standards that advance patient outcomes and operational excellence.
“Joint Commission congratulates West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital for achieving reaccreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value,” said Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, executive vice president of Accreditation and Certification Operations and chief nursing officer for The Joint Commission. “Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with WCCH to affirm its commitment to healthcare quality and patient safety.”
In preparation for reaccreditation, WCCH conducted internal readiness assessments, strengthened quality assurance measures, reviewed and updated policies and procedures, and enhanced staff education to ensure continued alignment with Joint Commission standards.
Reaccreditation affirms WCCH’s ongoing commitment to a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement — ensuring patients across Southwest Louisiana receive care they can trust, close to home.
