The West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH) Foundation recently awarded the WCCH Foundation/Mac Burns Scholarship to Connor Wilson, a 2021 graduate of Sulphur High School (SHS). The $1,600 scholarship is presented to a graduating high school senior in the service district of WCCH, who has chosen a career in the medical field, and who will be attending McNeese State University in the fall and spring semesters after graduation from high school.
During his time as a high school student at SHS, Connor was a member of BETA club, SHS Student Council, National Honor Society, SHS Baseball Team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Retreat Team. He also exercises effective and positive leadership outside of the classroom, where he volunteers annually at Care Help of Sulphur and High Hope Care Center.
Connor will be attending McNeese State University in the fall and plans to pursue a degree in pre-physical therapy as the first step in achieving his goal of becoming a physical therapist.
To receive the scholarship, the student must have achieved a 3.0 GPA and must have been accepted by McNeese State University. The student must also exhibit positive leadership capabilities and a genuine regard for those with whom he or she comes in contact.
