Between Us Girls, an adolescent class offered by West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital (WCCH), is scheduled to be held Saturday, May 18, from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., in the hospital’s Cafeteria Conference Room. Class sessions are designed for girls ages 9-11 and 12-15, and their mothers or guardians.
Age appropriate material will be presented in large and small group settings. Presentations will be made by Dr. Kelly Fuqua, family medicine physician; a registered nurse; and a counselor from Family and Youth Counseling Agency. Topics of discussion for all age groups will include the physical and emotional changes expected during puberty and the importance of good hygiene habits. Topics of discussion for small groups, based on age, will include menstruation, coping with peer pressure, building healthy relationships, pregnancy, and abstinence. There is a $20 fee for each girl attending. Class size is limited. Please call (337) 527-4361 to reserve space.
