Wound Healing Center

The Wound Healing Center of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital specializes in the treatment of chronic wounds and non-responsive conditions, and offers hospital-based outpatient wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy as well as lymphedema and diabetes care. Using a multi-disciplinary approach, the Wound Healing Center offers complete wound care services including debridement, the latest dressings and wraps, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The Wound Healing Center staff is also experienced with advanced therapies like bio-engineered skin substitutes, vacuum-assisted closure and platelet technologies. The center treats:

  • Pressure ulcers
  • Venous stasis ulcers and diabetic ulcers of the lower extremities
  • Necrotizing infection
  • Compromised skin grafts and skin flaps
  • Cellulitis
  • Osteoradionecrosis
  • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis
  • Lymphedema and post-radiation tissue damage

The Wound Healing Center of West Calcasieu Cameron Hospital follows a Wound Healing Clinical Pathway with a national average healing rate of 80 percent obtained over an average treatment schedule of 12 – 16 weeks. The national rate of limb amputation for non-responsive wounds is less than four percent.
